Dual Language Program
La Vernia Primary School Dual Language students will develop a high academic and linguistic proficiency in two languages by participating in a rigorous academic program that enhances the development of bilingualism, biculturalism, and biliteracy The Dual Language program offers students the opportunity to learn to read, write and speak in both English and Spanish. It allows students to develop the ability to think, write, and speak in both English and Spanish. Advanced academic achievements, higher career earning potential, and cultural engagement are clear benefits for student participating in the Dual Language program.

The LVISD Dual Language/Spanish Immersion Program is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Pre-K and Kinder waiting lists. Please click on the appropriate links below and fill out the form to have your child put on our waiting list for the 2018-2019 school year. A separate form is required for each individual child (e.g., in the case of twins). Forms need to be submitted by JUNE 14th. Dyslexia is a disability that is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. Students that are identified with dyslexia are serviced through the 504 program. The 504 committee determines the student’s need for dyslexia services, accommodation plan, and closely monitors the student’s academic progress.

English as a Second Language Program (ESL)
It is our duty as educators in the state of Texas to evaluate and identify any student who may have limitations with the English language. Once evaluated, students who are not proficient in the English language, also known as English Language Learners (ELL), are serviced through LVISD’s ESL Program. The goal of our ESL program is to enable ELL students to become competent in the comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing of the English language. Teachers are trained on instructional strategies to help students develop proficiency in the English language and the grade level curriculum. Students are monitored closely and are academically supported with English Language Proficiency Standards and linguistic accommodations.
(ESL) PROGRAMA DE INGLES COMO SEGUNDO IDIOMA
Como maestros del Estado de Texas, es nuestro deber de evaluar e indentificar a cualquier estudiante quien pudiera tener limitaciones con el idioma Ingles. Una vez hecha la evaluacion, los estudiantes no competentes en el idioma Ingles; tambien conocido como Aprendizaje del Idioma Ingles (ELL), son revisados atravez de LVISD del programa (ESL). La meta del programa (ESL) es ayudar a los estudiantes del (ELL) a ser competentes en la comprension, hablar, leer y escribir el idioma Ingles. Los maestros an sido entrenados en estrategias instruccionales para ayudar a los estudiantes al desarrollo competente en su nivel academico del idioma Ingles . Los estudiantes son supervisados muy de cerca y son apoyados con las normas estandarizadas y competentes del lenguaje e idioma Ingles.
Title I Program
The Title I Program is a federally funded program that provides services to students who are in need of additional academic support.
The goal of the Title I program is to:
- Identify students in need of interventions or extra support
- Increase the opportunity for all students to meet academic achievement standards
